This training gives you a complete foundation for the Release Train Engineer role. You’ll explore the responsibilities of the RTE as a coach, servant leader and facilitator, and develop concrete skills to build flow, alignment and value delivery within your train.

You’ll learn how to launch and guide Agile Release Trains, lead PI Planning, foster cross-team collaboration, and grow a continuous improvement mindset across all roles.

This training is ideal if you:

  • Are (becoming) a Release Train Engineer or are stepping into the role
  • Have experience with Agile at team level and are ready to scale
  • Want to support multiple teams in delivering aligned, value-driven outcomes
  • Facilitate ART events and want to improve structure, participation and output
  • Want to grow as a coach and servant leader in complex environments

Also relevant for Scrum Masters, SAFe Program Consultants (SPCs), Agile Coaches or Transformation Leads working closely with ARTs.

What you’ll do in this training

  • Understand the RTE role and its responsibilities across the ART
  • Plan and execute Program Increment (PI) events, including PI Planning
  • Support teams and ARTs in flow, alignment and value delivery
  • Identify and manage cross-team dependencies and risks
  • Apply coaching techniques to improve performance and culture
  • Drive relentless improvement using Inspect & Adapt and metrics

Note: The course material and certification exam are in English. The course is delivered in English.

After this training

  • You’ll facilitate high-quality events and foster better collaboration
  • You’ll help your organisation align strategy and execution
  • You’ll gain tools to improve team dynamics and organisational flow

About the certification exam

  • Format: Online, closed book
  • Number of questions: 60 multiple choice
  • Time: 120 minutes
  • Passing score: 75% (45 out of 60 correct)
  • Language: English
  • Access: After your course attendance has been confirmed, you will have 30 days to take the exam
  • Certification: Upon passing, you will receive the SAFe® Release Train Engineer certification and a digital badge
