Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

In partnership with the European Certification and Qualification Association (EQCA), the Lean Six Sigma Academy (LSSA) and the University of Twente (UT), we offer the opportunity to obtain European certification as a Green Belt.

There are two possibilities:

  • Option A : Theoretical Green Belt certificate: only theoretical exam.
  • Option B : Full Green Belt certification: theoretical exam + two practical projects

The complete Lean Six Sigma certificate requires sufficient achievement in both theoretical and practical elements. If you do not pass the theoretical component, but you do well on the Lean Six Sigma projects, your projects will stay valid for two years during which time you can re-take the theoretical exam. This is also true in the inverse: if you complete the theoretical exam first, your results will be valid for two years during which time you must submit your two Lean Six Sigma projects for review. Please note however, that disconnecting the theory and the project assessment is considered a “re-take” and is subject to two separate exam fees.

Theoretical Exam

  • The content of the theoretical exam is based on the LSSA Green Belt skill set (Service or Industry)
  • The exam is in English
  • You are permitted to use your book and training material in the exam
  • The answers to some questions require the use of Minitab
  • The exam is comprised of 60 multiple choice questions
  • Personal identification is required
  • The theoretical exam is entitled to 5EC (European Credits)
  • Practical Exam

Practical projects are assessed by LSSA accredited Master Black Belts. We encourage you to have your project charter assessed in an early stage. You are not required to present your projects unless your employer requires you to do so.

  • You must submit two Lean Six Sigma projects per person
  • The structure must conform to the DMAIC or DMADV roadmap steps
  • Projects must be digitally submitted in the LSSA standard review template (PowerPoint with approximately 25 slides).
  • Green Belt saving / cost avoidance is at least € 20,000 per project per year
  • Project must be signed-off by the Champion and Financial Controller
  • Projects must be in English

FAQ 1: meets the training I attended the LSSA conditions ?

To answer this question you have to compare your training with the Lean Six Sigma skill sets. European Lean Six Sigma skill sets has been defined for each of the four levels. The skill sets can be downloaded at our website. LSSA exams are based on the LSSA skill sets.

Within Six Sigma people can be trained at various levels which appoint how experienced one is in applying the Lean Six Sigma methodology. These levels are called:

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (YB)
  • Lean Six SigmaOrange Belt (OB)
  • Lean Six SigmaGreen Belt (GB)
  • Lean Six SigmaBlack Belt (BB).

Four Skill sets have been defined which exactly describes which of the overall Lean Six Sigma tools are expected to be part at a certain Belt level. The ASQ – Body of knowledge have been taken as a baseline and have been updated according the latest insights with regard to the integration of Lean and Six Sigma. The skill sets are supplemented with Lean, TOC and TPM learning elements.

Each skill set provides a detailed description of the learning elements that a participant will have acquired after completing a training program. The level upon which these learning elements may be applied is also described.

FAQ 2: Delivers the LSSA independant certification ?

The LSSA is an independant organization, classified in the European Certification and Qualification Association (ECQA). The ECQA is a non-profit organisation that was established approximately ten years ago to create a unified certification schema for numerous training programs and courses, including the four Lean Six Sigma belt levels.

Certification is open for all persons that want to get certified in Lean Six Sigma.
