Dimensional Modeling (English)

Description

In this training we will start modeling data ourselves in a Dimensional Model (also known as a "star model"). By splitting your data into facts and dimensions, a clear model is created that matches your business processes. This allows you to easily answer a wide variety of questions. Dimensional Modeling is a standard technique for many Business Intelligence and Analytics solutions. It is also a best practice for newer data analysis tools such as Power BI to model data via star schemas.

In this training we will work a lot with modeling data ourselves. We practice good modeling on the basis of practical cases. This ensures that you do not lose valuable time in your daily analysis work due to wrong modeling choices.

Who is the Dimensional Modeling training for?

The Dimensional Modeling training is suitable for designers, developers and analysts who have to do data analysis themselves. This basic training focuses on the use of dimensional models in BI tools and Data Marts.

Skills gained

With many assignments and exercises you will get the hang of modeling well. In three days you will become adept at making star schemes. This helps you in your data analysis and reporting.

Prerequisites to follow the Dimensional Modeling training

To be able to follow the Dimensional Modeling training, it is important that participants work with data themselves. When this prior knowledge is not available, it can be very helpful to take an introductory data course, such as Azure Data Fundamentals .

Prior knowledge of a specific reporting tool, analysis tool or database is not required: Dimensional Modeling can be applied in SQL databases, Power BI, and many other tools.
