DAX for Power BI level 1 (English)

Description

In the training "DAX for Power BI level 1 - Fundamentals" you will learn a solid foundation in the DAX language within Power BI in one day.

We discuss everything you need to take your first steps in DAX, and introduce you to all kinds of useful functions. You will also learn where to find more information and which useful tools you can use to keep your DAX readable.

Audience

The "DAX for Power BI" training is aimed at data analysts and developers who load data into Power BI themselves and want to do more analysis on it. Also data analysts who use existing Power BI datasets and want to be able to develop new measurements for it themselves.

• You are familiar with Power BI and use it regularly in your work.
• But basic knowledge alone will not get you there. You want to be able to make advanced analyzes and help colleagues with their calculations.
• You have noticed that DAX is often a barrier to this.
• You want to put your new skills into practice right away, and you can start doing that in your day-to-day work as well.

Skills gained

After these 2 weeks you will have mastered the following:

• You know the difference between measures, calculated columns and calculated tables. You know how DAX handles this differently and when to choose which type.
• You can develop calculated columns yourself
• You are able to combine data from different tables in a calculated column using DAX
• You know how DAX handles different data types differently
• You can independently look up the associated DAX functions based on requirements and know how to combine them into a working whole

Prerequisites to follow the training "DAX level 1 for Power BI - DAX Fundamentals".

In this training it is important to know the basics of Power BI. Making simple reports and doing simple data analyzes (without writing DAX yourself) is required. If you've already seen something from DAX, that helps - but it's certainly not necessary: we'll explain everything.

It is also important to be able to model your data in a Dimensional Model. As long as your data model is correct, you need much less complex DAX logic in practice.

Finally, as a participant you need access to Power BI Desktop on your own (work) laptop.
